CCA Fall Paleontology Field Camp
Have you always wanted to know more about the ancient life that roamed the Grand Valley? Join CCA paleontologist, Rob Gay, on a two-day event to track down these prehistoric wonders. We will also be at the Museums of Western Colorado's Dinosaur Journey facility, where we will view fossils on display and additional tracks from around the western slope.
Day one will consist of background information; we will spend time in the field looking at rock outcrops, as well as time indoors going over the basics of geology and stratigraphy to prepare for our time at the excavation site.
Day two finds us in the field, collecting fossils from our local NCAs in order to further scientific research and carry on the BLM's mission to improve access, education, and protection for these resources. All fossils collected will be reposited at Dinosaur Journey in Fruita, a federally accredited repository.
Lunch will be provided on the dig day and we will be visiting local restaurants for meals.
