Eagle Rock Shelter Learning Tour

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the congressional designation of the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, the BLM and its partners invite you to join on a variety of outings to celebrate and learn about the incredible resources in your NCA!


Join BLM archaeologist and Colorado Canyons Association’s Education Director to learn more about the history and cultural importance of Eagle Rock Shelter.

Where: Eagle Rock Shelter Trailhead/Parking Lot

How to get there: Off Hwy 92 take the turn off around mile-marker 13; look for the Eagle Rock Shelter Access sign.  Drive about 7 miles on a dirt road (moderate vehicle clearance needed) to the parking area. If it rains and the roads are impassable, the event will be cancelled.

What to bring: Enough water and appropriate attire to be out for 2 hours, including a 2 mile round trip hike.
