River of Lost Souls: An Evening with Jonathan Thompson

Jonathan Thompson is the author of River of Lost Souls, which tells the story behind the 2015 Gold King Mine disaster that turned the Animas River in southwestern Colorado orange with sludge.

Presented by Hutchins Water Center at CMU, RiversEdge West, and CCA. This event will be free and open to the public, with a reception, featuring complimentary beer provided by Palisade Brewing, followed by a slideshow and talk.

Thompson is a native Westerner with deep roots in southwestern Colorado. He owned and edited the Silverton Standard & the Miner newspaper in the tiny town of Silverton, Colo., and was the editor-in-chief of High Country News from 2007 to 2010. He was a Ted Scripps fellow in environmental journalism at the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 2016, Jonathan was awarded the Society of Environmental Journalist's Outstanding Beat Reporting. He also hosts a blog on relevant topics on water in the West.
