To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the congressional designation of McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, the BLM and its partners invite you to join on a variety of events to celebrate and learn about the incredible resources in your NCA!
About the lecture
Join Dr. Palmer as she introduces you to a unique group of tiny yet tough critters that live within the mosses, lichens, and cryptobiotic soil crusts of the high desert habitats of Western Colorado and the research that she and her students have done on them. If you’ve never heard of tardigrades (also know as water bears), get ready to discover these microscopic and magnificent creatures!
Dr. Aparna Palmer earned her BS in Biological Sciences and her BA in English from Colorado State University and her PhD in Zoology from Washington State University. She has been a Professor of Biology at Colorado Mesa University for 21 years and is currently also the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Student and Faculty Success at CMU. She loves hiking, backpacking, taking road trips across the western United States, and traveling the world.
This lecture will be held virtually on Zoom and is free. You will get more information on how to access the lecture after registration.
