McInnis Canyons NCA Fence Removal

  • 543 Main Street Grand Junction, CO USA (map)

Volunteers needed! In partnership with the BLM and Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, CCA will be removing un-wildlife friendly fencing in McInnis Canyons NCA. Join us for a day of much needed work on your public lands!

When: March 21st from 9 AM - 3 PM

Where: We will be meeting at the Dino Hill trailhead and working in the Kodel Canyon area of McInnis Canyons NCA.

What: Volunteers will help remove old fencing in McInnis Canyons NCA. This particular fence has 5 strands of barbed wire and is not friendly to the wildlife in the area because animals can often get caught in the wire. We will focus on removing about 6/10th of a mile of the fence. Tasks will involve removing fencing stays and staples, as well as cutting and coiling barbed wire. Tools will be provided.

What to bring: Please wear seasonally appropriate work clothes (the thicker the better!) and sturdy shoes. Please bring thick leather gloves, eye protection, lunch, and water.

Please note: Prior fence removal experience is not needed. However, this can be tough (and sharp!) work, so please be prepared. An up-to-date tetanus shot is advised.

RSVP Required.
