Every year, volunteers come together on National Public Lands Day to help restore and improve public lands in their backyard. Join CCA and the Bureau of Land Management on September 26th to help restore critical habitat for the threatened Gunnison sage-grouse in Gunnison Gorge NCA and give back to your public land!
When: Saturday, September 26th from 9 AM - 3 PM
Where: The intersection of Black Canyon Rd and C77 Rd outside of Crawford; see on map
What you’ll be doing: Volunteers will be using loppers and hand saws to cut down juniper and pinion saplings that would otherwise become perches for predators, scaring away the sage-grouse. The felled trees help retain soil moisture and provide habitat for small animals, improving the landscape for Gunnison sage-grouse habitat.
Please bring: Food, water, work gloves, a face covering, long pants, and closed-toed shoes
We’ll provide: Tools, orange vests, hand sanitizer, and National Public Lands Day t-shirts
Group size will be limited. RSVP required!
