Seventh Graders in Escalante Canyon
This April CCA, BLM and District 50-J hosted a week long field experience for 350 seventh grade students, teachers, and volunteers. Students were able to learn about the cultural history of Escalante Canyon by visiting the last waterwheel on the Gunnison River and Captain Smiths Cabin. During this field experience students were able to participate in telemetry (electronic tracking of animals via collars) exercise to locate hidden wildlife collars with Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff.
