Position Description:

This is a full-time 40 hour a week position based in Montrose, Colorado. The VISTA will work with CCA’s Educational Director and the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Uncompahgre Field Office (UFO) to add capacity to our river and land-based stewardship activities in the Gunnison Gorge and Dominguez-Escalante NCAs. In addition, the VISTA will help with CCA development and membership activities within the Delta and Montrose areas. The VISTA will work to strengthen our partnership with the BLM’s UFO by assisting with the conveyance of visitor services and interpretive activities. The VISTA will commit a minimum of 10% of his or her time to professional development.

Organizational Background:

Colorado Canyons Association (CCA) fosters community stewardship, education and awareness of our National Conservation Lands with a focus on Dominguez-Escalante, Gunnison Gorge, and McInnis Canyons National Conservation Areas (NCAs) in western Colorado. We are a non-partisan, non-profit organization encouraging cooperation among all NCA users and interests.

CCA has a robust set of programs that engage the community in education, citizen science and stewardship activities on both the lands and waterways of our regional NCAs. Our organization boasts diverse and long-standing community support representing a wide cross-section of NCA interests.  

CCA recently received national recognition as the 2018 recipient of the Public Lands Foundation Landscape Stewardship Award.
