Colorado Canyons Association’s Statement on Racial Inequality

Colorado Canyons Association’s (CCA) mission is to foster community stewardship, education, and awareness of our National Conservation Lands. CCA values inclusion and equity; recognizes that there is a lack of diversity in visitors to public lands; and understands there are systemic, racial, and socioeconomic barriers to accessing the outdoors. We firmly believe that all people, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, should be able to access our public lands without barriers and without fearing for their safety. We cannot truly fulfill our mission until all people, regardless of their skin color, feel safe and protected in all communities.

While we do not have all the answers to solve the problems of systemic racism in our communities, CCA commits to listening and learning more. We commit to make meaningful efforts to identify our implicit biases and addressing them. We will invest in diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings for staff and will be active participants in community conversations about racial equality.

Colorado Canyons Association remains committed to providing meaningful connections to public lands for all people. We stand in solidarity with the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color community. Our mission is to make public lands more accessible and we abide by this in our programs and culture. We will continue to use the tools that are available to us, including education, empathy, and collaboration. Our public lands belong to everyone.
