Snapshots From Our Fall Programs
Curious about what we’ve been up to? We have A LOT to show you! We’ve been running at full capacity the past few months with our education and volunteer events. We’ve captured some great moments on camera so you can see the full impact of our programs. Check out our photos below.
6th grade students from Delta County attend our signature program, Cottonwood Days, every year.
The students get to learn about their local watershed, landscapes, and the critters that live within them.
Colorado Parks & Wildlife and BLM partners shock fish from the Gunnison River so students can get an up close look at them.
The kids demonstrate excellent teamwork as they learn about water usage is the West.
Our other signature fall program, Dias del Agua y Tierra, is a bilingual field trip that takes 5th graders from Dual Immersion Academy into Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area.
The students get to spend a day on the Gunnison River…
… and one day on the land at the Upper Dominguez Campground!
We were excited to get more students from Montrose County out on the river with us this year - Cottonwood Elementary 5th graders joined us this fall.
Our river trips let students experience the landscapes of the NCAs in entirely new ways!
Adults get to experience the river, too! A great crew joined us on our Eagle Rock Float trip this year.
Dr. John Seebach from CMU provided wonderful interpretation of Colorado’s oldest archaeological site, Eagle Rock Shelter in Gunnison Gorge NCA.
CCA’s volunteers kept busy with our National Public Lands Day events! This wonderful group of volunteers joined us to help clean-up Dominguez Canyon.
After backpacking down into the canyon, volunteers helped disassemble unnecessary fire rings.
Our other National Public Lands Day event helped restore Gunnison Sage grouse habitat in Gunnison Gorge NCA. Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up!
